Demolition Work Complete at Winchester Station

On January 7, 2021, the MBTA closed Winchester Station as a result of an inspection that indicated significant infrastructure deterioration to pedestrian ramps and canopies. Crews recently completed demolition of all the overhead ramps and platforms in the north and south areas of the station in order to safely secure it.
The station will remain closed until further notice.
Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Service Impacts
Winchester Center on the Lowell Line will be closed until further notice. Riders should consider Wedgemere as an alternative.
