Language Access Policy
The MBTA’s language access requirements are governed by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Learn about your rights under Title VI and how to file a complaint
The Language Assistance Plan (LAP) describes how we help riders who rely on languages other than English. We review US Census data and ridership survey data to identify the number of riders within the MBTA’s service area who can benefit from translation and interpretation services.
The LAP is monitored regularly to measure its effectiveness. If you have suggestions for how we can better our language access program, please send them to MBTACivilRights@mbta.com.
