Train Platform Work Progressing at Chelsea Commuter Rail Station
Updated on August 13, 2020
We’re building a fully accessible Commuter Rail station next to the current SL3 stop in Chelsea. The new station will provide a direct connection between the Newburyport/Rockport Line and the Silver Line.
Starting on August 2, crews began installing train platforms at the new Chelsea Commuter Rail Station. Trucks will deliver a total of 48 platform panels in early to mid-August. The FRP material resists corrosion and salt, and therefore should be long lasting.
Meanwhile, crews continue to work on the rail signal system along the right-of-way. Work at the station will be completed in September 2020. Check the Chelsea Commuter Rail Station project page for updates on the work schedule and any associated detours.
