Summer 2024 Service Changes
This summer, we're making changes to bus and subway service. Commuter Rail, ferry, and The RIDE will remain the same.
Service Changes by Mode
Subway Service Changes
Effective June 16, 2024
The following changes to the Red and Green lines will remain in effect for the summer season. There will be no service changes to the Blue, Orange, and Mattapan lines.
Sumner Tunnel Closure
Bus Service Changes
Effective June 16, 2024

| Route | 47 | Change | Route terminates on Green St @ Magazine at Central Sq. The route does not serve Mass Ave due to a temporary diversion. Updated with new trip times for improved reliability. |
| Route | 111 | Change | Increased frequency to every four minutes from early morning through morning peak travel to accommodate increased ridership. |
| Route | 117 | Change | Beginning July 5, weekday Haymarket trips that use Sumner Tunnel before 5:15 AM detour via Ted Williams Tunnel during the Sumner closure. |
| Route | 424 | Change | Weekday outbound trip arrival times shift slightly for improved reliability. |
| Route | 429 | Change | On June 17-18 and June 20- 21, trips depart Northgate at 2:35 PM, 3:35 PM, 4:35 PM, 5:35 PM, 6:35 PM, 7:35 PM, 8:40 PM, 9:35 PM and 10:30 PM. |
| Route | 450 | Change | Starting July 5, route terminates at Wood Island Station instead of Haymarket during Sumner Tunnel closure for a local bus fare. |
| Route | 714 | Change | Starting July 16, service extends to 10 PM every day. More midday service added. |
| Route | 716 | Change | Starting July 16, service extends to 7:15 PM on weekdays and 6:15 PM on Saturdays. Trip times updated to improve reliability. |
| Route | SL1 | Change | Weekday service increases during Sumner Tunnel closure. |
| Route | SL3 | Change | Weekday service increases during Sumner Tunnel closure. |
Note: these routes will have new PDF and printed schedules effective June 16, 2024. For all other routes without summer service changes, spring schedules remain valid.
Commuter Rail Service
There are no planned service changes at this time.
Note: spring Commuter Rail schedules went into effect on May 20.
Ferry Service Changes
There are no planned service changes at this time.
Note: seasonal ferry service began in April and May.
The RIDE Service Changes
There are no planned service changes to The RIDE at this time.
