    New Bus Platforms

The new bus stop platforms are designed to improve the experience for our riders. The new stops are sheltered and include seating, improved lighting, digital screens with real-time arrival information, and emergency call boxes. The entire platform is raised almost twice as high as a typical curbside bus stop, creating an easier, faster, and more accessible boarding experience.

    Building a Better T

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.

    Completed Work

Over the last two weeks, crews have:

    • Continued construction of new bus stop platforms along the corridor
    • Continued installation of new traffic signal equipment
    • Continued pedestrian improvement work, including installation of new sidewalks and curb ramps throughout the corridor

    Upcoming Work

Over the next two weeks, crews will continue working to construct new platforms at:

    • Columbus Avenue @ Walnut Avenue (outbound)
    • Columbus Avenue @ Walnut Avenue (inbound)
    • Columbus Avenue @ Dixwell Street (outbound) – once completed this will replace the current stop at Weld Avenue
    • Columbus Avenue @ Dixwell Street (inbound)
    • Columbus Avenue @ Bray Street (inbound)
    • Columbus Avenue @ Dimock Street (inbound)

Crews are continuing to construct new sidewalks, curbs, pedestrian ramps, and traffic signal improvements throughout the corridor.

Crews will work Mondays through Saturdays, from approximately 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM each day. For safety reasons, there may be occasional lane reductions, parking space removals, and minor detours for pedestrians around work zones.

    Service and Travel Impacts

Due to the installation of bus only lanes on Columbus Ave, stops may be temporarily relocated/closed through January 2021.

Please follow the posted signs for temporary stop locations and nearest connection points.

Entrances to abutting properties may be temporarily adjusted around the work zones, however, our goal is to maintain access for businesses and private properties at all times.

The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather-dependent and subject to change without notice.
